I'm Kelli and I help busy families plan amazing (and magical) vacations without the stress and overwhelm.
If you’ve tried getting a reservation for Cake Bake Shop at Disney’s BoardWalk, you already know how difficult it can be.
We tried for WEEKS leading up to our girls’ trip to Walt Disney World with absolutely no luck. Every time I checked the app, reservations were completely full – for all the days of our trip!
And honestly? I completely understood the hype. Between the gorgeous atmosphere, viral (and delicious!) desserts, and curiosity surrounding one of Disney’s newest dining spots, everyone seems to want a reservation right now.
So before our trip, Ashley and I came up with a backup plan: Instead of stressing about not getting in, we decided we’d simply head to the bakery side, grab a latte and pastry, and enjoy the BoardWalk atmosphere from a bench outside.
And honestly? That already sounded pretty magical to us!
But when we arrived that morning, I noticed something surprising:
There was NO line outside the restaurant.
So we decided to take our chances and ask.
And somehow…not only did we get a table, but we were seated at the sweetest little table for two right by the window overlooking the bakery and all the BoardWalk activity outside.
It ended up feeling so cozy and special – one of those unexpectedly magical Disney moments you can’t really plan for.
Now, I do want to be really clear:
I would NEVER recommend that clients simply “wing it” when it comes to Disney dining, especially for extremely popular locations like this one.
Disney dining strategy absolutely matters.
But in situations like this? It truly never hurts to ask!
The key is having flexibility and a backup plan you’d genuinely enjoy either way.
Because honestly, we would’ve been perfectly content sipping Raspberry Rose Lattes on a bench along the BoardWalk that morning.
The reservation would’ve just been a bonus.
And somehow…Disney magic kind of did its thing.
Don’t automatically give up if reservations aren’t available right away. Guests change their plans ALL the time at Walt Disney World!
Dining reservations constantly shift as people:
I can’t tell you how many “impossible” reservations suddenly pop up the week before (or even the day of) a trip.
Flexibility matters too. The more open you are to earlier breakfasts, late dinners, or off-peak timing, the more likely you are to snag one of those trendy Disney dining spots.
And honestly?
This is also one of the reasons it helps to work with a Disney travel planner.
When clients have their hearts set on a specific dining reservation, I’m often checking consistently leading up to their trip and helping strategize the best timing and approach.
More often than not?
We’re successful.
(And yes…sometimes that means I’m awake before sunrise helping clients grab those hard-to-get reservations when their dining window opens!)
Because at the end of the day, Disney vacations are about so much more than rides.
Sometimes the sweetest memories happen over breakfast with a Raspberry Rose Latte and a little unexpected pixie dust.
