I'm Kelli and I help busy families plan amazing (and magical) vacations without the stress and overwhelm.
When most families plan a Disney vacation, the resort becomes the place they plan to sleep.
That’s it.
They focus on park days, dining reservations, Lightning Lanes, and ride priorities…while the resort is treated like a basic home base they’ll barely experience.
But here’s the thing:
Disney didn’t design their resorts to simply hold people overnight.
They designed them to be EXPERIENCED!
And honestly? I think this is one of the biggest mindset shifts that changes how a Disney vacation actually feels.
What if it wasn’t just where you slept? What if you realized that your resort is your fifth park?
Not because you should stay there all day instead of going to Magic Kingdom or EPCOT…but because Disney resorts are full of experiences that most guests completely overlook.
There are campfires and movie nights under the stars. Character meet-and-greets right in the lobby. Hidden walking paths. Boat rides and carriage rides. Resort activities. Lounges with incredible atmosphere. Specialty dining experiences. Arcades. Pools with amazing slides and splash zones your kids may end up talking about just as much as the parks themselves.
Some resorts can even feel like attractions on their own – full of the details and theming that we all love about Disney!
Walking into the Grand Floridian feels completely different than stepping into Wilderness Lodge or Polynesian Village Resort. Disney intentionally designed each resort to tell a story – through music, scent, architecture, food, landscaping, activities, and atmosphere.
And once you start viewing the resorts as part of the Disney experience instead of separate from it?
Your trips start feeling completely different.
One of my favorite things to tell clients is:
You paid for the resort too. Enjoy it.
Sleep in a little. Grab breakfast at the resort instead of rushing out the door every morning. Let the kids swim. Watch the Electrical Water Pageant from the beach at Polynesian. Take the boat to Disney Springs from Port Orleans. Explore the BoardWalk at night. Join the resort scavenger hunt. Roast marshmallows at the evening campfire.
Those slower moments don’t take away from the magic.
They ARE part of the magic.
Honestly, some of our family’s favorite Disney memories happened outside the parks entirely.
Late-night walks back to the room.
Resort pool afternoons.
Watching fireworks from the resort.
Quiet mornings with coffee before the parks opened.
Listening to live music in a lobby after a long park day.
Those moments create breathing room in a trip that can otherwise feel overstimulating and exhausting.
And as a Disney travel planner, this is one of the biggest reasons I spend so much time helping families choose the resort that’s the best fit, not just the cheapest or trendiest one.
Because the right resort shapes the rhythm of your entire vacation.
Disney is so much more than rides.
And once families start embracing the resorts as part of the experience instead of simply a place to crash at night?
That’s when the trip starts feeling truly magical.
