EPCOT Oasis: Moana’s Journey of Water

Okay, mom-to-mom: if you’re in EPCOT and you see the sign for Moana’s Journey of Water, don’t just breeze by. It may not be a headliner ride, but it quickly became one of those sweet, unexpected highlights of our trip!

Why We Loved It

This walk-through trail is absolutely beautiful and so much fun! It’s themed around the story of water—how it moves from rain to streams to rivers to the ocean – and every section has something interactive. My toddler was over the moon, splashing and giggling at every stop, but honestly the older kids and adults loved it too!

During the day, it was the perfect cool-down break. At night, though? That’s when it really sparkled. The water features light up, the music feels extra magical, and Spaceship Earth glows in the background. Total Disney goosebumps moment.

Little Details That Make It Special

The path is full of fun surprises—like water strings you can run your hands through to make music, fountains that react to touch or movement (like waving your hands!), and even hidden carvings of Moana, Hei Hei, and Pua. The centerpiece is a towering, peaceful statue of Te Fiti that makes the whole area feel calm and awe-inspiring.

And here’s a fun perk: there’s usually a PhotoPass photographer set up near the middle of the trail (around Te Fiti), so you can get a family photo with all that beauty glowing behind you. No need for the self-timer struggle (or praying a stranger knows how to get a great shot)!

Mom Tips to Make It Easy

• Pack for splashes. Crocs, flip-flops, or any quick-dry shoes are your best friend here. A change of clothes in the stroller is also a lifesaver—swap them out before you say, “Go have fun!” so you don’t end up with a tired, soggy toddler for the rest of the day.
• Don’t rush. This isn’t a quick walkthrough—kids are going to want to stop, touch, splash, and play. Build in a little extra time – maybe 20 minutes, give or take.
• Day and night. If your schedule allows, do both! Daytime is fun and playful, nighttime is magical.
• Lines aren’t a big deal. If one station looks busy, just keep walking. Every section has something unique, and you can always circle back.
• Homeschool bonus! If you’re a homeschool family, this is gold! It’s hands-on science, disguised as play. Disney magic meets learning!
