I'm Kelli and I help busy families plan amazing (and magical) vacations without the stress and overwhelm.
Growing up, Chef Mickey’s was always a must-do on our Disney trips. My brother was born in 1995, and with his summer birthday (and the perk of living just five hours away), we were in the parks almost every year. Chef Mickey’s quickly became part of our tradition—I can still remember walking into the Contemporary, watching the monorail glide right through the building, and hearing the music and laughter echo from the restaurant below. For little me, it felt like the place to be.
Chef Mickey’s is all about energy and fun. It’s bright, lively, and yes—a little chaotic in the best way. The Fab Five—Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto—all make their way around the restaurant, stopping at each table for hugs, high fives, autographs, and photos. Seeing Mickey in his chef’s hat is just about the most iconic Disney memory you can make.
One thing I love about character dining is that it takes the stress out of waiting in long lines in the parks to meet those classic characters for pictures. Instead, your kids can sip on juice(while you sip on coffee) and the characters come to you! And don’t skip the Pluto Punch—a fruity mix of passionfruit, guava, and orange juice—it’s a fun little extra that kids and adults love!
Is Chef Mickey’s five-star cuisine? Nope. But is it dependable, kid-friendly, and filling? Absolutely. The breakfast buffet has all the classics: Mickey waffles (a non-negotiable, obviously), bacon and eggs, fruit, oatmeal, pastries, and omelets made to order. There’s truly something for everyone, which makes it a win when you’re feeding a group that includes both picky eaters and teens who can eat their weight in waffles.
For me, personally, Chef Mickey’s isn’t just about the food—it’s about the atmosphere. It’s loud, it’s fun, and it feels like Disney in every way. It’s the kind of place where littles don’t have to sit perfectly still, where you don’t feel like your family is “disrupting” anything, and where laughter and squeals of excitement are just part of the soundtrack.
On our most recent visit, I had a wave of nostalgia watching my kids’ faces light up when Goofy came to the table. Seeing the wide, sparkling eyes of my toddler and the smiles from my older kids, I remembered being their age and feeling that same joy—and now I get to see it through their eyes. That’s what makes Chef Mickey’s special – no matter what age you are!
Chef Mickey’s has been part of my Disney story since I was a kid, and I love that I get to share it with my own family now. While it is delicious, the food isn’t what makes it magical—it’s the characters, the atmosphere, and the memories you’ll carry home with you.
If you’re looking for that classic Disney dining experience that combines Mickey waffles, character hugs, and a whole lot of nostalgia, Chef Mickey’s is exactly where you want to be!
